F. A.Q.'s

Do You Represent Landlords or Tenants?

Gordon Legal only represents tenants. Our firm has made a commitment to only representing tenants. We believe that representing only tenants gives us a unique perspective into tenant matters and enables us to fully appreciate our tenant clients' needs and goals.

Do you charge for a consultation?

No. We do not charge for an initial qualifying tenant phone consultation. At the free initial phone consultation, we will discuss the details of your housing court case, the legal process and answer any questions you may have.

How do I qualify for a free tenant phone consultation?

Our client service team performs an initial quick screening intake to determine if we can assist with your tenant matter.

May I schedule an in-person office consultation?

Yes. A prospective client may request an in-person consultation for a minimum hourly fee of $450.00 based upon the attorney's availability.

Do appointments need to be scheduled in advance?

Yes. We schedule appointments for you to ensure that you have the best chance of getting your help as soon as possible with our undivided attention.

What should I have available to me during the phone consultation?

You may not know what documents and information to have at your fingertips during the phone consultation, but you should at least be able to answer basic questions regarding your tenant matter. Otherwise, we have public records access and can go the extra step and take care of the document fetching for you.

Gordon Legal has been primarily a housing court law firm for more than fourteen years.

What are your billing practices?

Our billing practices are transparent and fair. We offer various fee structures, including subscription payment plans, hourly rates and flat fees depending on the nature of the legal matter and when we are retained in the litigation process. We will discuss billing arrangements with you during the consultation and ensure that you fully understand the costs and obligations involved.

How does the subscription billing work?

Subscription-based law firms offer clients legal services for a recurring, flat monthly fee. Clients “subscribe” to a legal services plan.  Each month, we will charge you for your monthly subscription fee using the account on record. All subscriptions are month-to-month.

Does the subscription cover all legal services for my housing court case?

The short answer, yes. The Gordon Legal Subscription plan is focused on providing from start to finish tenant housing court legal services to provide information, advocacy, and housing court litigation representation. As a result, we can provide qualifying tenant clients with legal services at competitive monthly subscription fees.

How long is the subscription commitment?

We do not believe in locking tenant clients into long-term contracts. Furthermore, you may cancel the subscription at any time, with 30 days' notice, and all services will terminate at the end of the following calendar month. Thereafter, you may continue as a fee for services client, hourly client, or discharge our services entirely.

Is there a sign up onboarding fee?

Yes. Our sign-up onboarding fee is $150.

How often will I have access to my attorney?

You can schedule a call to speak to your attorney at any time, with at least 48 hours' notice. Calls are scheduled according to availability.

Who will work on my case?

Gordon Legal's founder and principal tenant defense attorney Steven Ben Gordon, Esq. personally oversees and manages every aspect of your tenant case.
